Toheeb Ibrahim

Born in Ondo State, Nigeria, Toheeb Ibrahim is a young, exceptionally talented artist whose strength lies in his draftsmanship skills and creative use of colours. A fine and applied arts graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2013), he also bagged a degree in Fine and Applied Arts, Adeyemin College of Education (2021).

Toheeb’s creative sensibility is directed towards using art to document activities that define his environment and the people in it. His paintings often interrogate human actions and inactions and their consequences as they affect the economic, political, and socio-cultural lives of society.

His recent works have been centered on the living conditions and mental health of the aged people in Nigeria and how they have been left in villages and odd places to eke out a living and wallow in oblivion.

Toheeb tries to bring attention to the aged and discuss the negligence, demeaning, and often dehumanizing state the aged has been subjected to by the government and the younger members of the society.

He renders his works with threads, fabrics and acrylics. He has participated in several group exhibitions and Auctions. He has participated in several group exhibitions and auctions including the Life In My City Art Festival (LIMCAF) from 2016 until present, Arthouse Contemporary Auction 2018, the Sogal Art Auction 2018, Modhafest 2020, On Display Gallery at the Landmark 2021, the Handshake 2022, and the 3rd Ibadan Art Fair 2022.
