Korede Aremo
Korede Aremo’s body of work is a visual documentation of her thoughts, basically like a journal. They represent the journey of self and is inspired by conversations and shared experiences she has had and how those experiences translate in dreams, and in what we do as humans.
Despite working with acrylic, pencils and pastels, as well as digital painting and photography, she uses acrylic more often. The use of acrylic reminds her that life happens whether she wants it or not and things will never be how she left them. Her use of thick layering and bright colours, is to visually stimulate the viewer into understanding the dichotomy of the happiness and sometimes the tragedy of being human.
Thickly layered acrylic paints are manipulated into sensual strokes depicting the melancholy of the subject. Soft pencil work is used to depict dreams that have double meanings and darker miniatures that represent a pocket of activity that was used briefly for coping.
