Emmanuel Aderiye
Emmanuel Aderiye grew up in the South-Western part of Nigeria. Fascinated with figures and nature, he discovered his storytelling ability to showcase contemporary culture through the use of lines for human skin, while identifying with life’s green opportunities for the contemporary human. Through expressionist portraits and figure painting, he consistently bridges the gap between moral values, lifestyle and faith. Emmanuel earned his Bachelor of Art degree in Visual Arts from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 2016.
His studio practice draws strongly on ranging issues from identity to the complexity of man’s mindset. Engaging with people’s emotions and building mindsets as a visual artist is quintessential. To communicate this, several mediums are used during production to vividly illustrate the expressive reality of man and a reformation of his identity.
He often renders his figurative subjects using bold lines expressively. The spontaneous usage of lines in his practice helps to lead the viewer’s eyes on a journey, creating movement and flow within each artwork.
